John Lennon Remembered -- Page 2

Most of us never met John Lennon or really knew him outside of his public persona. But even 18 years after his tragic death, it still hurts. For many, losing John was like losing a family member or dear friend. And while life must go on after such a loss, there is no shame in remembering...

i just have one thing to say about the man. if it wasn't for him and his music. if it wasn't for him i probably won't be here today. his life, given to us through his music, makes me realize that there is someone out there that truely understands me. it is through him and his music that i am able to keep any sanity in life. it is as if he is the best friend that i never had. keenan j. There's no way to describe the imprint that John has left on the world. No other rock star has ever been mourned for so much, Elvis didn't even come close. The thing about John is that he used his position in music to try to attain a better life for you and me unlike most of the greedy rock stars around today (but I won't mention any,.......... Oasis) who don't care about anything apart from their mansion and Ferrari, John realised that he could do something to change this world, and even if the world didn't listen, he still continued. He was called a freak, a junkie and just plain mad, but its funny to see the influence he has over millions today and how people carry his legacy on. I love you, John, you will live on forever, at least in my heart. Why didn't you help me in my French exam today, I fucked up badly?

Today should be a day of mourning and sadness, but also for remembering all the wonderful, beautiful things John and his music taught us. I hope that wherever John is, he knows that his influence and importance to so many people will not be forgotten. And it won't be, just as long as young fans (such as myself) keep the memory alive. Remember- In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make! John Lennon Lives Forever In Music

Wonsuponatime on the west coast of the United States, about 5 miles from Candlestick Park, there was tiny little town with the name of Half Moon Bay. In this town is a small house with its windows overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Every December 8, a candle flame burns there in memory of a fallen fellow man. A man who rose high enough that all who care to listen might hear and understand his messages. The candle also reminds others about the man, and his memory. Maybe they will light a candle in their window. Other candles also burn inside the home, to cheer up those inside. Remembering and believing in John Lennon, we see the light.

This day in December, usually falls on the day snow begins to fall. It happened this morning, very early. November drizzle turns to into large flakes that blow over the roads and accumulate in disappearing lawn. Winter has held off long enough. Its time brace yourself, for good days and bad. No matter where or when it falls the seasons first snow always me of what happened to John. The seemingly endless bliss of a childhood summer coming abruptly to a definite end. I grew up "real" fast that next day in 1980, when I learned what happened. I had just turned 13 years old. Being both impressionable and determined to be oneself, as any teenager is, the loss of my childhood and the loss John made me aware my duty to be true to myself as I grew to adulthood. I have used Yoko's and John's messages, visions, values and dreams to create my own "reality". I thank them for both for doing all they did. THE MUSIC WILL CARRY ON. PLEASE RECOGNIZE THE MESSAGES AND PASS IT ON... Always sensitive this time of year.

Johnny,i really cant find words to write ,u r so much for me to be written in words ,maybe be i can show it in a musical piece or something sentimental,i just cant express myself when it comes to you man. I ve learned that"living is easy with eyes closed",that "all u need is love", "that a man must break his back to earn his day of leisure",that "i ve got to hide my love away",that "if i were her she would realise that i will love her more than any other guy",that"love is not just holding hand", that"pain would lead to pleasure"and that we have to GIVE PEACE A CHANCE John Lennon wasnt just another rock artist who just seeked super stradom or whatever,he was far beyond this,he went to a place where few people went there before;this was his soul. He expressed his feelings ,his human needs, his sins, his desires, his fears, his pains ,his happiness and his insecurity. John Lennon was me and u ,he was one of us ,he expressed us as humans and this is why we feel so close to him,he is a best friend and dad for so many in the world. U know john ,u made me smile,u made me feel that i m not alone, u made me feel that nothing is gonna change my world. All my young friends who dont know anything about the Beatles love u now.I ve learned guitar because of u and teaching friends your songs ,so i consider myself your biggest in EGYPT LEGENDS DONT DIE JOHN LOVE SALAM PAIX

I was six years old when he was killed. I knew of his music, I knew of the Beatles. But the effect wasn't noticed until years later when I began to understand his words. At a time on this earth when inspirational and thought evoking ideas about humanity and phianthropy are desperately needed, I can only wish that John Lennon were here to express to us his thoughts. I like to feel that if he were still here on this earth, we would be better people for it. In Loving Memory always and forever...

John, even though 18 years have passed since you were taken from us, your influence and your presence is as strong today for many of us as it was 'all those years ago' Thank you for all the joy, happiness, great music, zest for life, honesty, lack of pretense, integrity, humor, and just plain YOU that you gave us for so long and continue to give us through your music and ideas you left as your legacy. Not many heroes we can look up to in the world today....I love you today just as much as I loved you back then.... None of us who have felt your influence will EVER forget you... and even though you once said " I'm just a guy who writes songs", you were a hell of a lot more to us than that...Often I have thought over the years how much you would have loved MTV, the Internet, CD's and all the new technology we have now...Hell, you can create your own Abbey Road these days with a pc and some software - what a gas that would have been for you... wish we could see what you would have done with it!!!! Miss you more than you could ever have IMAGINED.... Remembering you with tears and love today... December 8, 1998

I will always remember watching Monday Night Football and hearing the news of John Lennon's death. I was only 15 at the time and was a huge Beatles fan. Now that I am older and "wiser" I really understand what John Lennon was all about. His death was a huge loss to music, mankind, but, most of all, to his wife and little boys.

Dec 8, 1998
Aaron (sQuiBbo@worldnet.att.net)
Okay, so maybe I was only a year old when he died. Maybe my older friends told me about seeing Monday Night Football that night. Maybe I'll never understand what the sixites and seventies were really like. But what I do know is that a man's life was lost and it is a tragedy. Learning about the whole thing, I would sit and wonder to myself, "Why would anyone want to kill the guy who sang and believed all you need is love? How could anyone be so heartless as to shoot this peaceful being in the back?" I'm sure no one really understands it today any better than they did then. I'm sure many of you remember the aching devastation you felt that night. What I feel is sadness every time this day passes without any mention or rememberance by news channels or radio stations. I get angry because many who used him to boost their lives do not repay him by remembering. I plead with you to never forget. Tell your children about the Beatles. Tell them about this night 18 years ago. Remind your friends. Call radio stations. E-mail everyone you know. Don't let his love or message fall through the cracks. Right now on my TV I see a bunch of junk about Al Gore Sr. who never did a damn thing for me in my lifetime and nothing about John Lennon who taught me and millions of others to let go of the hate inside. We all love John in our own special ways. Let him know it.

Well, Well, Well...Why is it that the people of peace are so often taken away so violently? One thing that should be remembered about John Lennon is that he could be both peaceful and angry, but perhaps what remains most inspiring is his unsynthesized honesty. It's something that has always been lacking in music (and in our world) -- which made John Lennon so very rare and precious, both in his time then and in our time today. Strawberry Beatles Forever.

I wish I knew how Sean, Yoko, Julian and Cynthia get through this day every year. The pain for me is as real now as it was 18 years ago when John left this world so violently. As I near 40 myself, I realize how vibrant life is at this age and how truly tragic it was that John's life ended when he was so young. Seek peace and harmony. Do your own thing, but try not to hurt others. I think John would have wanted it that way.

Amazing how our lives are marked by "events", good ones, bad ones...and such tragedies that we recall with that fuzzy picture of disbelief...still today. The un-imagine-able! Being old enough to remember the Beatle-explosion, I know I have grown up with Johnny and his words and music...I remember wanting to be old enough to "wanta hold your hand"..then participating in a sit-in "singing, Power to the People" then "playing those mind games together...raising the spirit of peace and love" and wasn't that lullaby for MY son? "I was dreaming of the past, and my heart was beating fast, I began to lose control, I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sorry that I made you cry, You might not love me anymore, I was shivering insde, I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sorry that I made you cry, Oh,no I didn't want to hurt you, I was trying to catch your eyes, Thought you were trying to hide, I was swallowing my pain..." but today, as I go along, maybe someday I'll sing "grow old along with me, the best is yet to come..face the setting sun when the day is done"....meanwhile, IMAGINE... God has blessed us all, God Bless John and His Family

Here is to John Lennon. No...I never met the man. I never shook his hand or said hello to him. But I know him. I know him through his music and his message. I know him because he was/is the most honest music writer ever and was unaffraid to let us look into his life through his music. John Lennon is the greatest songwriter/singer in rock and roll, and more over, music history. There have been other great ones. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. Paul McCartney, who needs no introduction. Pete Townshend of the Who. Jim Morrison of the Doors. Yet, everyone of them would beg off when compared to John Lennon. He is my hero. He is the world's hero. He saw the oppurtunity to change the world by using his popularity and he seized it. Perhaps no one else in world history has so acted upon that force. He asked us to give peace a chance. He asked us why on earth are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear. SO I ask all of you who will read this post to ask yourself, have I done my part. Has John's message reached me. I hope someday it will. Then the world will truly...live as one. I love you Johnny. May you be with us always.

Today 18 years ago, this planet lost somebody who was the greatest man ever. I peronally believe that John was above a human being. All he ever wanted was PEACE and LOVE. Why couldn´t we listen to him, he worked so hard for the human race. For that he got shot by some crazy maniac. But he couldn´t shoot his words, music and spirit. We still keep John in our hearts, and so will it always be. We will always remember his messages and keep fighting for a non- violent world. A happy world, where everybody can feel safe. By just listening to John´s songs we can learn allot. Today allot of people are sad and feeling allot of missery. But it´s a sorrow that can remind us that we have to do something, not to just sit back and wait. If we just try to live after a few things he said, we would be allot happier and so would others. The world will never be a paradise, but if we all get together and fight for what John believed in we can make this place much better. Love is a flower, you got to let it grow. We miss you John especially this day, but keep on rockin´ in heaven.

The music that John Lennon made is a huge source of inspiration to me - and to millions of others all around the world. I was only 5 when he was shot and I don't remember it. Ironically, the thing that turned me on to John's music was a tape my father had with a radio program that was broadcast at that time in memory of John Lennon. The important thing is that the music is still here! It's terribly sad that John Lennon got shot, but I - and most of you people out there - know John only through his music. I didn't know John Lennon the person. I think the only people entitled to say: "John, I miss you!" is those who were close to him, or at least knew him personally. How can you miss someone you've never met? You can still listen to "Strawberry Fields Forever", "A Day In The Life", "Jealous Guy" and all the other great songs - the music is as alive now as it was when the person who made it was living! I'd just like to say to John Lennon wherever he is: Thanks for all the great music! I love it and it means so

John was a truly amazing man, and although I was born nearly 3 years after his death, I discovered his music when I was 10, and it has touched me a great deal. I can see totally where all of his music is coming from, and it has been many an inspiration for my music coursework pieces! I personally believe that "I am the Walrus" is the most meaningful piece of music ever written. Does anyone share that view?? His death touched so many people, it is truly tragic. We may have lost his being, but John will forever be present in my heart, and I am sure in many other's too. He lives on through his music. Don't mourn a death, celebrate a life! Here's to 40 fabulous years! Good one, John!

It seems like I've been posting messages to Bagism for almost three years now, usually on Oct. 9 and Dec. 8. But I think about John Lennon every single day. How can you not? John Lennon gave this world more to think about than anyone else. I've studied music from "Jesus to Paul," and no one has had such a musical influence that outreaches what John Lennon CONTINUES to give us, even 18 years after his death. But wait! John Lennon is not dead. Only physically. We will never meet him. I was only four years old when he died, but to me, he is still with us. We have his music, his writings, his family, his love to help us through troubles times. He also gave us great romance and peaceful songs to make our shining moments - like marriage - seem even more appropriate know that John Lennon gave us something to cherish and now we have someone to cherish, like a spouse or friend. I will never forget John Lennon. How can you? He's everywhere. If you don't believe me, look at yourself in the mirror. You are on this earth because enough people care about you to make sure you are healthy, getting an education and making something of yourself. As an American working in Germany now, I am fortunate for the things I have accomplished. But I couldn't do it alone. And in his own way, John Lennon helped me to be what I am today. I think more people should listen to John Lennon ... and not just his music. I miss you John Lennon. And I love you. Peace. --Chris

Just reading through these messages, makes me realize, even more, how special a person John Lennon was (and will always be). So many who were too young to remember have been influenced by not only his songs but his words and life....to me, someone who's life can have such an impact, well, that is a sign of true GREATNESS. I unfortunately DO remember that night, and how, for the first time, I knew what it was like to mourn the loss of someone. I was only 14 at the time but already a JL/Beatles fan, and I was crushed to have someone so precious taken away from me and the world. I'll never forget......John, your memory is with me always, and I will forever carry your music in my heart!!!!

December, 8 marks a sad day in life of some people. That day is a depressing day if you ask me. What can I say? Where do I start? December 8 will always be a sad day indeed for millions of us-family, friends, fans. We all knew John Lennon-some very well, some casually, some only through his music. And we all loved him. What an impact he had on all of us. He was such a great communicator. And he spoke so wonderfully through the universal language of music. That is how I knew him. And that is how he continues to live on. And his music means more to me with each passing day. But especially today. I miss you John Winston Ono Lennon, more than words could ever say. But I keep you always in my heart. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, speak of you, and listen to your music. Thank you for all that you have given me. For all you have given to the world. "In My Life, I Love You More".

As I write these words, I am listening to the snippet of interview recorded of John on his last day in this world. His last interview. The irony is that he was so full of hope. After a long absence, he had finally just come back to us.. he had "come through." For those of you who weren't born yet, I wonder if you can even imagine the implications John's return to the music world meant. His reemergence into the public was met with much excitement, and rumors of a possible "beatles reunion" gave everyone something to be excited about. In his final interview, John referred to the decade that had just begun as a "new chance." No one will ever know what was in his mind, what plans he had for the future, what suprises he had in store for us. His death is truly a tragedy for the entire world. I beleive John was the Philospher of the twentieth century. Many people looked to him for guidance, and through his words, and his music, he gave freely. I could go on and on about the tragedy of John's death, but I don't think he would want that. Instead, today I plan to listen to some of the cd's I havne't heard in awhile, and remember him for the extraordinary way he lived his life. Peace.

This day is very sad. Every year is the same when I get out of bed, dress in my black John Lennon shirt, and go to school. People tell me "John Lennon wasn't so great. What did he ever do?" It makes me angry to hear all of this. They have no idea what a great man he was. They think of him as "that guy who was in that band." They know nothing of his peace activism and vision of a world without wars...without hate. It's still hard to imagine after all these years that he's gone.

Just look at all this! What a amazing person he IS to be changing lives 18 years after his own was taken away from him. How amazing it is that so many of us miss him who have never even met him. How amazing his music is to still be influencing bands today. How amazing he is to bring people all over the world together by just being himself. He's the best insperation we could have. It makes me cry just to see all these messages and all that his LIFE has created. we miss you john, you're forever in our hearts

John may no longer be with us in a physical sense, but his spirit and message will live on as long as people listen to the music and read about the man (I would suggest Ray Coleman's "Lennon" or Jon Weiner's "Come Together: John Lennon in his time", I have read both and both are exceptional accounts of John's life.) Love, Peace, and Happiness for all people and all time

These days one must believe there's life after death. Maybe I've met Him already...maybe I past him by on the street without realizing it. All I can do is hope, because we know there will never be enough of that. We all shine on, John...and so do you! With Love...teardrop...survival...immortality...peace... Thank you!

I have one more comment. The killer of John Lennon (if you are any Lennon fan, you know his name) wanted to be known for what he has done. I am following Paul McCartney's wishes to never mention his name (the killer) and deny the man of any recognition. I encourage you to follow this wish.

18 years ago today, I was getting ready to see the concert of the year. It was a red letter day for me in my love of Rock n' Roll. Going from the heights of seeing the E Street Band tear it up, including the Xmas season opening rendition of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," to the depths of personal loss that followed has hung with me each year on this day since. Calling in a concert report to my college radio station, I felt as if hit with a hammer in the chest as the station manager, unexpectedly on the air on a Monday night, told me the news that Cosell had stunned a nation with just a short time before. As I stood, stunned, I saw the similar expressions along the row of pay phones at the Spectrum in Philly that night. For many of us, the most unthinkable had happened. A man, sharing a message of love, had been stolen from us all. That night driving home in a car filled with family and friends, in stone silence, listening to the radio station play the music that had changed our lives, my young daughter asked why my brother and I were so sad. She had never seen this in me and Uncle Joe. Years later, she also shares my love of John. The next morning, I sucked it up and made my way to the radio station, where I grieved thru the airwaves with a large number of people who had not heard, or had fallen asleep, the night before. It took years for the deep funk of the date to begin to lift, despite pulling positive inspiration from John's music and life. Every year, my holidays started with a bout of depressing feelings...how could this have happened? Finally, over the last few years, the fog has lifted, all that remains is the love of the man, what he stood for, and of course his music. We may not see another who shone so brightly in our lifetime, but no one can ever take away what John Winston Lennon gave to us...no one, not ever...there's comfort in that. Sometime tonight, I'll be alone with my thoughts, it will creep in, and the tears will come. He was the shining light, the purveyor of "Instant Karma," the late great Johnny Ace!

This day is the day, the world's heart was broken. Never will exsistence be the same. Without John Lennon what's the point of trying. His influence was much like the sky. It goes on forever but some people don't look up. Love you Lennon. I'll never forget you.

I attended the memorial in central park last year and it was the most amazing thing I ever attended. People were there all day long and they sang his songs lit candles around the Imagine circle. They wrote poems to him. It was the most touching thing I have ever seen. I am amazed after 18 years how important John is in music and peoples lives after 18 years. I hope wherever he is he is having a good time and making music for all of us to here when we get to where he is. Peace & LOVE, Marc Mortek

What a cool guy he was. Someone who really cared about people and who really believed in love. Maybe his death serves as a reminder of how much more we need to do for one another before we can know true peace and love.

John Lennon, You talked of death so often and in your lyrics too. Did you know? Your statements like: "Death is like getting outta one car and getting into another" "Everybody loves you when your six foot in the ground" "Last night the wife said, Oh Boy, when your dead, you dont take nothing with you but your Soul" "If I ain't dead already, you know the reason why" #9 Dream: "Someone called out my name, as it started to rain, two spirits dancing so strange..." Now that your dead... what's it like? Like your son Julian, I seem to feel your presence when I am playing your music on my piano. Are you still out there? Thanks Yoko for re-issuing the Lennon/Ono billboard announcing that "War is Over, if You want it", and for the recently released John Lennon music. I wonder how your musical style would have evolved, and which issues you would address with your Beatle-hold on the media. Julian and Sean are great legacies. They seem to recognize your love for the world and for music. 12/8/80 I was at the grocery store, when the checkout lady heard that John Lennon (or Jack Lemmon) had been shot. Unbelievable! The next night many students + collected @ John Lennon Park and listened to your music, wrote sympathy notes to Yoko, Julian and Sean. I caught such a bad cold that night, that I blew my final exams, (and I'm still shivvering). I read all I could about your killer. Was this a govt. plot or was he just crazy? His interviews in People Magz seemed to indicate the latter. What a waste! I hope he has healed and shown remorse. But like others who are led by the dark, he changed the world for me. Not just for your music, but your unwavering call for us to love one another. All you were saying was to "Give Peace a Chance" and "All You Need Is LOVE". This world is a darker place without You. I miss You. Jim

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. I still remember all of the beautiful things I learned from you John. You're the big brother I never had...from teaching me Rock and Roll when I was only 13 in 1964,to lessons in how to love mankind later on. The world just isn't the same without you. In my heart, you're still with me everyday. I just wanted to tell you this, on this saddest of sad days.

Hey John, another comment I thought you might like...I wrote a note earlier and got a note back from someone in Liverpool, said they saw you most everyday from '59 to '62...It is quite amazing he and I hooked up on the net and what we had in common was you...I live not far from the site of your last Beatle's concert in 1966 here at Candlestick near San Francisco, and he lives in your hometown...absolutely amazing...thought you might like to know what a great job you're still doing...we're thinking of you...pob

I was barley 15 years of age that day when I woke to find that some heartless bastard had taken the life of one of the only people I saw as a hero. That morning, 18 years ago I hichhiked over 1000 miles to NYC to morn the loss of perhaps the greatest thinker of my generation. Standing outside the Dakota, tears in my eyes and blisters from the candle on my fingers. I knew that a special era had ended. Today, as I listen to the Lennon Anthology, I am so happy that John's voice will never be silenced. That his message of love, peace, and hope is alive and timeless. John,I pray the love you could take, was equal to the love you made. I know my life was made richer for your being here. Thank you Yoko, for keeping his love and light still shining. Thank you John, We still miss you painfully.

John, I can't tell you how much I love you and your music. Currently, I am listening to a tape that put together full of your Beatle and solo music. I put that tape together for a vigil I put together on your birthday this past October 9th!!! =) Even though I was only 2 years old when you died, I still feel very connected to you. I have loved the Beatles for almost 3 years now and besides getting to know the Beatles as a group, I got to know each of you as an individual. Each one of you have become a part of my life, like a family. John, you are like a best friend to me, my brother!!! I miss you... =( Here's hoping you are finding peace wherever you are in heaven. Hopefully, you are there Rockin and Rollin!!! =) Please take good care of Linda... I love ya, John!!! JOHN LENNON FOREVER... Your fellow Beatle friend and sister... Alexis

I've been keeping relatively up-to-date on the messages left here today. I placed a message to John here early this morning. I just HAD to add to it, after what I've seen today. It is a great testament to John and his life and work that so many of us have chosen to write our feelings here today. I am seeing messages from those who remembered John and the Beatles and experienced the magic firsthand. I see them from those like me, who were too young for Beatlemania, but old enough to discover John while he was still with us in a physical sense. And finally, I see many thoughts from those who were born several years after we lost John. So many years after we lost him, he is still such an integral part of so many of our lives. I surround myself with his music every day, even if just for a few moments. He is as much a part of my daily life as my family, my friends, my work. We are all fortunate to have found this beautiful bond. Not only have we found John, but each of us has found all the others who have come here today. We each understand what everyone else is thinking, feeling, experiencing, remembering. His song is in my heart today and every day. And having visited Bagism today, I see that his song remains alive in all of us. God Bless you John. And those of you who will be traveling to Central Park tonight to remember, light a candle for me.

What do you write in 'rememberence' of John Lennon ....I do know he would wonder what all this fuss is about. He is Liverpools Legend the years pass by but the story of John Lennon his works, his music, indeed his travel through this life is passed onto generation. On December 8, 1980, Mark David Chapman assasinated John Lennon. Who knows what evil thoughts went through Chapman's mind as he fired the gun that killed Lennon? Why would anyone want to kill my hero, a man of peace? If there is a God may He bless the soul of John Lennon. This is for you John-ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

When I first saw the anthology series on ABC I didn't know who The Beatles really were, but after sitting down with my father and watching them I knew that these four men were the best in music. My favorite Beatle was John because he was very intelligent and outspoken, like myself. After listening to my father's records I decided to go get some albums of John's solo work. John Lennon is the best songwriter, the only exeception is Paul, and musician that rock music has ever seen. I always wish that he could of lived long enough that I could experience his presence other than watching old videos. We all shine on...

I was only a baby when John Lennon was killed, yet his music and actions have had a huge impact on my life. His music is some of the most beautiful and powerful music ever written. His words move me like no one elses. His efforts for peace will not be soon forgotten. It saddens me that John was gone before I even discovered him. He lives on in my heart and the hearts of others forever.

John, Although I am only 13 and wasn't fortunate enough to know you during your lifetime, I am still sad today. Just because I never knew you doesn't mean I'm not crying. You changed my life. Without your music, I wouldn't be alive right now. Yes, I would be physically alive, but my soul would be dead, even more than it was before I first heard your voice. You showed me how to live. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said before, but I will say it again.. I love you. I hope you have peace, where ever you are. .... Thank you John. Prudence has opened her eyes.

Reading all these comments is comforting to me on one of the saddest days of my life, just knowing that so many still treasure John's memory. When John was taken from us, it left a gaping hole in our life experience. I try to fill it with his music and words but things have never been the same since that gunshot rang out in the night at the Dakota. Thank you John for the incredible music you left behind. I can still remember it clearly. I was seven years old, living in Minnesota. My parents owned Beatles albums but I was more into the Beatles as solo artists and didn't listen to them much (the Beatles). At the time, I only heard of John's work with the songs that were from "Double Fantasy" and other songs I heard at the time on the radio. I can remember hearing "(Just Like) Starting Over" when it first came out and I really liked it. About a month later I was watching the 5:00 news when the top story came on. It was about the shooting of John Lennon that happened the night before. I sat there puzzled, not really understanding the whole incident. I'm not really sure what my feelings were at the time. For the rest of the week, the radio kept playing Lennon/Beatles tunes and I would lay in bed listening to music I had never heard before. Soon after, I started to play my parents' Beatles albums and wondered why this man had such an influnce on society. As I played the albums over and over I realised slowly that the world had lost a truly powerful man and things would never be the same. Soon after that, I was becoming more and more obsessed about the Beatles. My mother saw how intrested I was about the Beatles and bought me three of their albums for a christmas present in 1982. As the years went by, my obsession for the Beatles turned into love and I felt sad and cheated by the fact that there was no John Lennon around to make great music. After all these years, it still upsets me that he isn't alive. I still get the chills when I hear his music from "Double Fantasy", because that's when I first realised that life is not forever and that happiness can be crushed like a bug. John will always be my favorite entertainer and human. May he rest in peace.
