It was twenty-five years ago that John Lennon was taken from this earth. No, not just "taken" -- that would be a euphimism. People that die of cancer are taken. The grim reality is that John Lennon was murdered outside his home by a sick, deranged stalker. Twenty-five years is a long time, and the pain may not sting as much as it once did. But the passage of time will never erase the senseless act of violence on that December night in 1980. What did the world miss out on for not having John Lennon in it these past twenty-five years? New music? Political activism? It is easy to imagine that John Lennon would have remained relevant. And, more importantly, what did John Lennon miss out on? Would he have mended his relationship with his first son Julian? How would he have influenced the life of his second son Sean? Would he and Yoko have grown old together? But John Lennon never got the opportunity. And we will never know what could have been. All we can do is Imagine.
